A Utah County sheriff’s deputy has been arrested after being accused of molesting a child, officials said Friday.

Gerald Salcido, 63, was booked into jail Friday on suspicion of multiple counts of sexual conduct with a minor and at least one count of child molestation, all felonies, according to a news release from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.

“The charges in Maricopa County stem from allegations before Salcido was employed with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office,” the release states. Salcido has been a Utah County deputy for the past 14 years. He is on unpaid administrative leave, the Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

He was employed with another police agency before Utah County Sheriff’s Office hired him, according to the release.

He is to be extradited to Maricopa County, Ariz.

Salcido is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail.

A TWISTED pensioner has finally been convicted of kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl more than 40 years ago.
Kevin Hazelwood has today admitted to raping the schoolgirl in Leeds on November 1976.
He was jailed for 12 years at Leeds Crown Court after cold case detectives reviewed historic files and managed to place him at the scene of the crime four decades ago.
Cops welcomed the sentence saying he had spent years believing "he had got away with it."
West Yorkshire Police Detective Superintendent Jim Dunkerley said: “Kevin Hazelwood is long overdue this sentence.
“Given the amount of time that has elapsed since he committed this heinous crime, he clearly thought that he had got away with it.
“Thanks to the foresight of forensic science partners in 1976, the tenacity of our Cold Case team, and the continual advances in forensic technology, justice has now been served and a violent rapist has been taken off the street.
He added: “These offences have had a profound effect on the victim’s life and routines over the past 41 years and we hope this sends out a clear message to others who may believe they have evaded justice that we will continue to investigate historical offences.
“We would like to take this opportunity to urge any victims of historical offences, no matter how long ago the incident took place, to come forward and have the confidence to report what happened.”

A 25-year-old man who was found guilty of raping a 12-year-old girl in Rotherham has been sent to prison for eight years.

Brett Ashley McLaughlan, formerly of Lister Avenue, Rawmarsh, appeared before Sheffield Crown Court today (Friday 5 January) to be sentenced.

McLaughlan was found guilty of rape following a trial at Sheffield Crown Court in October in 2017. He was jailed for eight years today. He was also handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

His co-accused, 20-year-old Ben Chivers, was jailed for ten years in November 2017 after pleading guilty to multiple child sexual offences against three victims.

The court heard how McLaughlan raped his victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, in Rotherham in 2015.

Temporary Detective Sergeant Gareth Gent said: “While we have been able to demonstrate that Chivers targeted and groomed young girls on social media, his friend McLaughlan played an active role in this child’s abuse and he was found guilty of rape last year.

This is an incredibly serious sexual offence that has a devastating impact on the victim's life. The fact that he committed this appalling crime against a girl of only 12-years-old is horrifying and quite rightly, he is now behind bars for a lengthy period of time.

“This girl has shown remarkable bravery, firstly in coming forward and then throughout the joint investigation into her abuse, whilst being supported by Barnardo’s during the process.

“McLaughlan refused to accept responsibility for his sexual offending, meaning his victim had to endure a painful trial process.

“I hope this sentence offers his victim some small reassurance that her abusers are both now behind bars where they can cause no further harm.

“I also hope it reassures the wider community of our relentless pursuit of justice for victims of sexual offences and child sexual exploitation – we urge anyone who has concerns about sexual abuse or exploitation to contact police or a support agency so we can help.”

Please remember victims of sexual offences are guaranteed lifelong anonymity under the Sexual Offences Act. Anyone who identifies a victim, or who posts information about a victim that could lead to them being identified, is breaking the law.

THE widespread sexual assault and grooming of girls in the town of Rochdale was a case which shocked the country and prompted major criticism of the authorities.
The Sun Online looks at the scandal and how it was ignored by authorities for years.

What was the Rochdale child sex abuse ring?

The exposure of the grooming, sexual assault and trafficking of young girls in Rochdale was made public in 2012.
It resulted in the conviction of nine men for offences including rape and human trafficking  on girls as young as 13 between 2005 and 2008.
Sexual health worker Sara Rowbotham spent years trying to get police, the council and social workers to take the grooming seriously.
After the gang was eventually jailed police, Crown prosecutors and Rochdale Council were forced to apologise for their failings.
The men - aged between 24 and 59 - preyed on teen girls plying with them booze and drugs in the Heywood area of Rochdale.
The Rochdale Safeguarding Children Board highlighted failures by 17 agencies who were meant to protect the children.

Who were the grooming gang?

Judge Gerald Clifton said at the time that the men - eight of Pakistani origin and one from Afghanistan - treated the girls "as though they were worthless and beyond respect".
Shabir Ahmed, the ringleader of a group of men who preyed on girls, was jailed for 22 years after being convicted of a string of offences including rape in 2012.
Four members of the grooming gang – including ringleader Ahmed – now face deportation to Pakistan.
The other three are Adil Khan, Qari Abdul Rauf and Abdul Aziz.
Khan, Rauf and Aziz were convicted of conspiracy and trafficking for sexual exploitation charges.
In June 2017 it was revealed that the members of the Rochdale gang facing deportation will receive legal aid  to fight attempts to send them back to Pakistan, prompting widespread public anger.
In December 2013 a further five men were jailed after an investigation into the sexual abuse of a girl was reopened following the exposure of police failings.
The victim told police in 2008 Freddie Kendakumana raped her but he was not charged until October 2012.
In 2015 three men were sentenced for a string of child sexual offences that took place in Rochdale.
Two girls aged 13 and 15 and a 13-year-old boy were groomed by the three men between September and October 2014 after repeatedly going missing from care.

Predators who plied a vulnerable schoolgirl with drink and drugs in a sinister plot to rape her in a Tyneside park have been locked up for 10 years each.
The 14-year-old had approached strangers William Hunt and Nathan Rusted in Heaton, Newcastle, and asked them to buy alcohol for her.
A court heard the two men then set about getting her “as intoxicated as they could” while hatching a plan to take turns raping her.
The youngster was given a half litre of vodka, which she almost finished, then encouraged to smoke potentially deadly Exodus Damnation, a former legal high which is now banned, followed by some cider.
After the girl was left “staggering and swerving” and talking “gibberish”, she was led to a secluded spot in Walker Park, Newcastle, where Rusted raped her.
Before Hunt could take “his turn” to attack her, the victim started to vomit blood and begged for an ambulance, which the men called.
They then posed as Good Samaritans when medics arrived.
It was only when the frightened victim underwent examination in hospital that the shocking truth was revealed.
Rusted, 18, of Rothbury Terrace, Heaton, Newcastle, was convicted of conspiracy to rape and rape after a trial by jury and was jailed for 10 years with a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order and sex offender registration during a hearing last year.
Hunt, of no fixed address, was convicted of conspiracy to rape at the same trial and has now also been jailed for 10 years, with lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order and sex offender registration.
Judge Amanda Rippon told the 20-year-old: “You did not have sex with her.
“The only reason you didn’t is because she started to vomit and bleed.”
The judge said Rusted, just 16 at the time, was “far more sophisticated” than Hunt, who has a low IQ.
The court heard the victim was left so traumatised by her ordeal in 2015, which she relived by giving evidence during the trial, that she was admitted to a psychiatric unit after trying to end her life.
During the trial, the girl told jurors “they should be ashamed, they have ruined my life”.
A judge said the girl “doesn’t want to be in this world anymore because it hurt her too much” and said her bravery in court was “astounding”.
The victim’s heartbroken mother read an impact statement to the court and described her daughter as “broken” because of what happened to her.
The mum said: “This crime destroys lives.
“I wish I could take away her suffering. I have to do the best I can, while watching helpless.
“This despicable excuse for human beings couldn’t even spare her having to relive the details and forced her to be a witness to this horrid crime at court, made her face cross-examination in her fragile state.
“This shows to me they have no feelings of remorse or comprehension of what they have done.
“I believe them to be very dangerous to society.”
The court heard on the day of the attack the victim finished a half litre of vodka in under an hour before the pair gave her the psychoactive drug while they sat on wasteground near Chillingham Road Metro station.
Judge Rippon told Hunt: “You both encouraged her to smoke as much of the drug as she could, while you both carefully had as little as you could.
“Your plan to have sex with her was in place when you went to get the drugs.
“You intended to get her so intoxicated she would be incapable of saying no to your advances or fight them off.”
The court after taking the vodka and the then legal high, the pair bought cider to give her, which left her incapable of walking.
The court heard both attackers had troubled backgrounds and had been in the care system.

MADISON, Wis. - A Fitchburg man who was found guilty of repeatedly sexually assaulting a girl for more than two years was sentenced Friday to prison.
Antonio Shanklin, 43, was charged last year with repeated sexual assault of a child in connection with incidents from Jan. 1, 2014, through Oct. 22, 2016.
Shanklin was sentenced to 25 years in prison with five years of extended supervision.
According to the criminal complaint, a preteen girl told her teacher that Shanklin had asked her for oral sex. She later described to police incidents that took place in 2015 and 2016, and said the abuse started when she was in second grade.
The girl described to police several incidents of sexual assault, including one incident in which Shanklin raped her, according to the criminal complaint.
Shanklin was found guilty of repeated sexual assault in a jury trial in October.

A St. Stephen man has been arrested after being accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a child under the age of 16, according to a criminal complaint.

According to the complaint, at 4:38 a.m. on Dec. 29, Stearns County Dispatch received a call from a 14-year-old girl, who reported that she had been sexually assaulted on numerous occasions.

During their investigation, the child stated to Stearns County Sheriff's Office deputies that she had been sexually assaulted by her mother's ex-boyfriend, Dale David Smith, 67, of St. Stephen, multiple times in her bedroom at her residence in Brockway. The child gave three separate instances — one in 2014 and two in 2015 — where she stated that Smith entered her bedroom while she was falling asleep, removed her clothes and his own, and raped her.

The child also believed that Smith had sexually assaulted her on other occasions while she was sleeping, explaining that she would often wake up naked and sore.

Officers also spoke with the child's mother, who described an incident where she believed she saw Smith attempt to grab her daughter's breasts. She also stated that she witnessed Smith in her daughter's bed with his buttock exposed.

The child stated that the last time Smith attempted to kiss her was in Feb. 2017.

On Wednesday, officers located Smith at his residence. He initially denied assaulting the child in question, but later admitted to "French kissing" with the girl.

On Friday, Smith was read his Miranda rights and an interview was conducted, during which he admitted to performing various sex acts on the child and to rubbing his genitals on her on multiple occasions.

Smith is being held in Stearns County Jail on one charge of felony criminal sexual conduct in the first degree. Bail is set at $200,000.

ALLEN COUNTY, Ky. (WKRN) – Changes were made Friday for the trial of a man accused of raping, sodomizing, and murdering a little girl in Kentucky over two years ago.
Timothy Madden’s motion to delay his trial was granted by a judge, who also ruled his trial will take place in Hardin County instead of where the crime occurred in Allen County.

Doolin is accused in the death of Gabbi Doolin, who disappeared during a little league football game in Nov. 2015. She was found dead a short time later, and authorities determined she had been strangled by hand and drowned.
Madden, a former construction worker and father of five, has maintained his innocence since his arrest about one week after the crime.
He faces charges of facing charges of kidnapping, rape, sodomy and murder and pleaded not guilty in Jan. 2016.
The commonwealth attorney in Kentucky is seeking the death penalty in the case.

Featuring interviews with the victim’s family, a TV show on Sunday will air an episode recounting the story of an Oxnard girl who was raped and murdered in 1980.

On the Case with Paula Zahn” will tell how 15-year-old Stacy Knappenberger was killed while alone in her family’s Oxnard apartment on July 30, 1980. The episode will air on the true-crime TV channel Investigation Discovery.
The teen’s mother, Judy Linzey, and other loved ones recount key moments in their journey for justice, said Larry Israel, the show’s executive producer.
“It’s the spine of the show,” Israel said, noting that episodes don’t get made unless the victim’s family is on board.
Linzey was the person who found Knappenberger’s body.
The crime’s investigators and those who were involved in the subsequent trial were also interviewed.
Knappenberger was found with more than 50 injuries, including bite marks, stab wounds, broken ribs and bruises all over her body. Prosecutors said Thomas Coalt Young chased the girl into the master bedroom, punched her in the face, beat her and raped her before stabbing the teen to death with a broken glass ashtray.
Knappenberger’s slaying remained unsolved until 2010, when the Ventura County Cold Case Task Force matched Young’s DNA with evidence collected at the crime scene, prosecutors said. His DNA was found in the teen’s genitals and on her jeans.
Young’s DNA was obtained after his arrest outside California in an unrelated case. The sample was matched in the FBI’s Combined DNA Index System, a national database that contains DNA profiles of those arrested or convicted of crimes.
He was arrested in 2012 in connection with the Oxnard killing.
Young’s defense attorney claimed the sex was consensual, he did not murder Knappenberger and many of the fingerprints collected at the scene were inconclusive.
In 2015, Young was convicted of the murder, including a special allegation that the killing occurred during a rape, and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
He filed an appeal in July 2015, citing four reasons that he claimed violated his due process and led to him receiving an unfair trial. The 2nd Court of Appeal denied his claims and affirmed the trial court’s decision.
Potential viewers of the show can expect the episode to focus “a lot on the emotional components of the worst day of any persons’s life ... and then the saga of following an investigation,” Israel said.
Crime scene photos, police reports and police interviews are also used to maintain the authenticity of the story, Israel said.
The show’s production company traveled to Oxnard to show the neighborhood where the crime occurred. The local investigators then walked through those areas on camera and pointed out important locations and where evidence was discovered, Israel said.
The executive producer said the show “shines a positive light on the work done by law enforcement” at a time when such agencies may get negative attention.
Re-creations will also be part of the episode, but they will not show faces. And they will revolve around depicting the crime itself but are centered on the moments leading up to and following the incident, Israel said.
“They’re more impressionistic recreations because no one really knows what happened at the time of the crime,” Israel said.
The show will air at 10 p.m. Sunday on the Investigation Discovery channel.
Rabat A 58-year-old French pedophile appeared in court today in Fez accused of committing sexual acts on minors in the city. He admitted drugging and raping the two little girls, blaming their families for exploiting their children.
Asmae Kabba, a social activist and President of Moroccan Association against Violence and Homelessness spoke to  Morocco World News from the courtroom. She confirmed that the accused confessed to charges of pedophilia in front of investigators and the court.
Kabba, who supports and represents the victims, confirmed that the defendant had been grooming the two girls, aged 11 and 14, prior to being arrested.
Shockingly, Kabba also confirmed that during the hearing, the 58-year old insulted the families of the victims, saying that “these families sell their children’s bodies.”
Admitting to his charges, the pedophile claimed  that he could give the children “what they were deprived of: toys, food, gifts and money.”
Kabba and  Khadija Hajoubi, President of Anwar Caravan Association who is also attending the hearing, described the offense as a “horrific crime”.

Moroccan daily Akhbar Al Youm reported in its January 5 issue that two other victims have come forward, accusing the same man of sexual offenses against them in the same tailoring workshop.
