A man who admitted possessing an instruction manual on how to sexually abuse children has been handed a suspended prison sentence.

Kirk Pears, 38, of Diamond Street, King’s Lynn, appeared at Norwich Crown Court for sentencing after previously pleading guilty to one count of making indecent images of children and one count of possessiing a paedophile manual.
In November 2016 police received information about the download of thousands of indecent images of children at an address in the town. Enquiries led officers to raid Pear’s home address where they seized a number of electrical devices, including laptops, tablets, mobile phones and external hard drives.
Specialist officers examined the items belonging to Pears, which were found to contain 13,852 indecent images and a manual which contained advice or guidance about abusing children sexually.
The lead officer in the case, Det Con Nicky Gaughan, welcomed the sentence saying: “This was a particularly awful investigation with specialist officers viewing images which were some of the worst they’ve ever seen.
A child is victimised not only when they are abused and an image is taken, but every time that image is viewed by someone.
“We hope such a case sends a strong message out to offenders that the internet is not a safe anonymous space for accessing indecent images. They leave a digital footprint and we will find it.
Pears was sentenced to 10 months, suspended for two years, for making indecent images. He was given 12 months, suspended for two years, for possession of a paedophile manual. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years and given a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Police set up the Safeguarding Children Online Team (SCOLT) in 2014 to investigate online grooming and possession and distribution of illegal images. It aims to identify victims who are being or have been abused and work with agencies to put safeguarding measures in place.
SCOLT executes its own warrants generated from intelligence, including referrals from Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP), information from other forces and members of the public.

WAGONER COUNTY, Oklahoma -- A man indicted on allegations he held his stepdaughter captive for nearly two decades, subjecting her to horrific acts of sexual and physical abuse, says his accusers are part of the Mexican mafia.

Investigators say Henri Michele Piette fathered nine children with his victim, who was raped, beaten and tortured regularly, beginning at the age of 11 or 12.

The allegations came to light when the 33-year-old woman escaped her captor in Mexico, leading to his arrest.

Piette said that "99 percent" of the allegations against him are false.

"I never raped any children," Piette told KOKI-TV. "I made love to my wife. We were married."

According to federal officials, Piette married the victim when she was just 11 years old. His 15-year-old son was there, officiating the wedding in a van.

Court documents show Piette took the woman and his children, who also accused him of various abuses, around Oklahoma before making his way to Mexico.

Over the years, investigators said Piette changed his name to avoid being caught by police.

The accused man told KOKI-TV that the children who he abused them were members of Mexican criminal organizations.

Piette faced federal charges of kidnapping and traveling across state lines with the intent to engage in sexual activity with a juvenile, but those charges were dropped to allow the state to prosecute him.

In Oklahoma, he faces charges ranging from lewd molestation, first degree rape of a victim under the age of 14, and child abuse by injury.

A Chauncey man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for first-degree felony rape in Athens County Common Pleas Cour.
Richard P. Gardner, 56, formerly of Converse Street in Chauncey, was indicted on two counts of rape after sexually assaulting a 5-year-old.
Gardner had been employed as a bus driver in Perry County, though Assistant Prosecutor Elizabeth Pepper has said that the victim in the case was not a student in Perry County and is from Athens.
Gardner was indicted in October 2016 on allegations that on Feb. 21, 2016, Gardner unlawfully engaged in sexual conduct with the victim, who was 5 at the time of the assault.
After Gardner was indicted by an Athens County Grand Jury, a nationwide arrest warrant was issued. He was apprehended by Perry County Sheriff’s deputies, and met Athens County Sheriff’s deputies at the county line on Oct. 27, 2016.
Athens County Common Pleas Judge George P. McCarthy accepted a guilty plea from Gardner to one count of first-degree felony rape.
McCarthy sentenced Gardner to a mandatory term of 10 years in prison, according to a release from the county Prosecutor’s Office. Gardner also will be subject to five years of post-release control upon his release from prison, as well as registration as a Tier III sex offender, which requires registration every 90 days for life, the release said.
This case was investigated by the Athens County Sheriff’s Office and Athens County Children Services, according to the release.

Authorities say Ronnie L. Gipson, 45, raped a woman multiple times when she was between the ages of 3 and 12 years old.

Gipson, whose bond was set at $500,000 during felony bond hearings, was arrested after the woman came forward to the United States Air Force Special Investigations, who then contacted the Pope County Sheriff's Department.

According to testimony by investigator Chris Ridenhour, the woman contacted Gipson with the help of investigators in a video call using Facebook messenger, where he acknowledged the events, telling her, "It's done" and to "Get over it."

Ridenhour testified that Gipson admitted during a police interview that sexual intercourse and other sex acts began when she was 3 years old and continued until she was 12

Ridenhour also said Gipson used a code to begin the sexual encounters, asking the girl if she "wanted to play."

A Selbyville man accused of sexually preying on two 9-year-old sisters for more than a year has pleaded guilty to rape.
Joel Deleon, 36, was arrested in April on charges including rape, child abuse, continuous sex abuse and unlawful sexual contact, according to court records. He pleaded guilty in Sussex County Superior Court to unlawful sexual contact and third-degree rape, court records show.
Deleon was accused of raping two girls who he was entrusted to supervise, according to an affidavit of probable cause in the case. The documents described him as a family friend to the girls.
The abuse was uncovered by a school resource officer who contacted authorities, the affidavit said. One of the children told police that Deleon had sex with her, forced oral sex upon her, forced her to touch his penis and groped her, the affidavit states.
The other girl told police Deleon touched her inappropriately and kissed her as he promised her a cell phone, the affidavit states.
Based on the interviews, police said the abuse stretched from October 2014 through January 2016, the affidavit states.

Child rapist Damian Cochrane has been jailed for eight years for a horrific campaign of sexual abuse against his niece and other children.
Cochrane first abused niece Kate Davenport as she played in a Wendy house when she was just four.
The beast, who is 10 years older than Kate, continued to prey on her at a house in Drumchapel, Glasgow.
He began to rape her when she was nine and the abuse went on for a total of 10 years, the High Court in Glasgow was told.
Kate bravely waived her anonymity last month after Cochrane was found guilty of five child sex offences against her and another two children.

The other victims, a girl and a boy, cannot be named for legal reasons.
Kate, now 40, has been left with complex post-traumatic stress disorder.
She told last month how Cochrane first attacked her in the Wendy house tent at her grandfather’s house, where he lived.
She said he tried to treat her “like a girlfriend” and told her she was his favourite niece.
Kate said: “He would kiss me, play me love songs, tell me I was his favourite niece and how he was going to save me because he knew that I had a troubled family background.
“I had a feeling of absolute horror and I just froze. Not only was I being abused, but it was by my own uncle. You just can’t fathom that.
“He raped me twice – in his bedroom and on the sofa where he put his hand over my mouth.
“My grandad was sleeping and we were staying over so he covered my mouth and raped me in the living room.”
Kate finally plucked up the courage to report Cochrane to the police in 2013.
Three other victims then came forward claiming he had also abused them.
Cochrane, who had been living in Lincolnshire, was found guilty of four charges of lewd, indecent and libidinous practises against three of the children – including Kate – and one charge of rape. The offences all took place in Glasgow between 1981 and 1990.

Police identified the man as Skye Lloyd, 22, of Federalsburg.

Lloyd was charged similarly in 2015, when he was accused of raping five girls who were minors. Those charges were dropped, and in June 2016, he pleaded guilty in Talbot County Circuit Court to three counts of second-degree assault, according to court records. For the most recent allegations, Lloyd is charged with sex abuse of a minor, third- and fourth-degree sex offense, child abuse and second-degree assault.
