Paedo teacher charged with sexual abuse of a young child

 - A middle school teacher has been placed on administrative leave after he was charged with improper relationship with a student and continuous sexual abuse of a young child, said AISD principal.

The teacher was identified as 30-year-old Pedro Esteban Rosas Martinez.
On Oct. 31.,  Austin ISD Police Department received a report that a Dobie Middle School student had cell phone video of a teacher “inappropriately touching her.”
According to court documents the video showed Rosas Martinez place his hands on the 12-year-old girl’s inner thigh. Rosas then began to rub the girls knee and vaginal area.
Court documents also stated that the victim was forensically interviewed at the Center for Child Protection on Nov. 6 of this year. The victim told police that Rosas Martinez had been sexually abusing her since May 2017 during her sixth grade and 7th grade school year.
The victim stated that she decided to record Rosas Martinez on her cell phone on Oct. 31 in order to make her outcry.
AISD Police Department Interim Chief Christian Evoy said Monday that the victim was very brave for coming forward.
"This victim in this case is a very strong young lady, she made us aware of what's going on," said Evoy. "You need to talk to your children. Make sure you know what's going with your children."
According to a letter sent out by AISD, the teacher has been placed on administrative leave with pay since Oct. 31, the same day they were informed of the allegations.
"People get hired, and the district has over 12,000 employees. They take the steps they need with criminal history, those types of things,"  said Evoy.
On Nov. 17 Dobie Middle School Principal Jesse De La Huerta sent out a letter regarding the situation to parents and staff.
The school is holding a meeting for families Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the school's library. The school has also brought in additional counselors for students who may need support.

Dear Dobie Middle School Families and Staff,

The safety and well-being of all students at Dobie Middle School is our top priority.

With that in mind, I am writing to let you know about a situation that has affected our campus.
An arrest warrant was issued this afternoon for a Dobie teacher on a charge of improper relationship with a student, a second-degree felony; and on a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a young child, a first-degree felony.
The teacher has been on administrative leave with pay since Oct. 31, the same day we received the allegations, and he has been recommended for termination.
Because this investigation is ongoing, we can provide no further details at this time.  Additional counselors will be available for students who may need support when we return from break.
We will hold a meeting for families at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 27 in the

library. Interpretation into Spanish will be available during the meeting.
Please do not hesitate to contact us at 512-414-3270 if you have any questions or concerns. As always, we appreciate your support of Dobie Middle School.

Sincerely,

Principal Jesse De La Huerta
