OGDEN, Utah, Oct. 28, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — An Ogden man who pleaded guilty to reduced charges of one count of sodomy on a child has been sentenced to 15 years to life in Utah State Prison.
Preston Brock Long, 28, was originally charged with three counts of sodomy of a child and one count of aggravated sexual abuse of a child.
According to the probable cause statement, the victim described being sodomized on multiple occasions, and evidence was found in the victim’s bedroom.
Long had prior convictions, and was a registered sex offender.
The mother of the victim, a boy younger than 9, wrote a letter asking for a lesser sentence for Long, but the Ogden 2nd District Court judge went with the prosecutor’s recommendation.
An Arkansas man was found guilty in the rape of a 14-year-old girl, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.
The verdict came a day after the girl reportedly testified that John Virgil Britt, 34, had sexually abused her. She told authorities that Britt raped while she was sleeping on a couch, according to court documents cited by the newspaper.
The 34-year-old also testified during the trial, according to the newspaper. He denied having sexual contact with the girl.
The Cave Springs resident was given a 40-year prison sentence and will be eligible for parole after 28 years, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported. He must also register as sex offender.
Shreveport Police Sex Crimes Investigators have a man in custody that they believed raped a juvenile in September of 2016.
On Sept. 13, 2016, Shreveport Police responded to a local hospital and made contact with a juvenile victim who advised that they had been held down and raped by an offender whose name was not known.
Investigators developed Roy Jackson, 37, of the 3000 block of Dallas Street, as the suspect. DNA evidence was submitted to the North Louisiana Criminalistics Laboratory and compared to the DNA profile of Roy Jackson. The Crime Lab did match the DNA evidence from the victim to Jackson.
Investigators procured a warrant charging Jackson with one count of second degree rape. Investigators and patrol officers took Jackson into custody at his residence and booked him into the Shreveport City Jail. Bond was set at $175,000.
A man convicted of child sex abuse in Illinois, has taken up temporary residence in The Villages.

A retired Houston Police Department officer will serve three life sentences after a jury found him guilty of three first-degree offenses of sexually assaulting a child.
Abel Diaz Rodriguez forced the 14-year-old girl to choose between physical or sexual abuse in 2014, Galveston County District Attorney Jack Roady said in a press release. He also showed her a video of sexual acts, which Rodriguez had recorded secretly, that office said.
The three life sentences will be served consecutively.
"This was a heart-wrenching case," Roady's office wrote in a Facebook post.
The victim and her sisters reported the crimes in 2015. The victim said she was afraid to report the incidents because Rodriguez had been in law enforcement and had made threats in the past, according to Roady's office.
Rodriguez retired in 2007 after working 25 years as a Houston police officer, the Associated Press reported.

A man who raped and sexually assaulted a young boy and a young girl at their Blackpool home has been locked up for 18 years

Robert Kirk, 48, had been convicted of indecently exposing himself in Scotland, but his young victims did not know about his past.

The children were abused in Blackpool and at an address in Scotland. Kirk pretended to the boy that the abuse was “a game”, and gave the girl money on some occasions, telling her “it’s our little secret”

Kirk, of Leeds Road, Blackpool, was found guilty of eight charges following a trial at Preston Crown Court. Jurors convicted him of two counts of raping the boy when he was aged 10 and 11, sexually assaulting him, and inciting a sexual act with a child.

He was also found guilty of a charge of rape covering three occasions when he attacked the girl, as well as engaging in sexual activity in front of her, sexual assault, and causing a child to engage in sexual activity - all when she was aged between eight and 10

He shook his head as Judge Andrew Woolman told him he would have to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life, and asked for his mobile phone back as he was led down to the cells.

Frances McEntee, prosecuting, said: “He (the boy) says he’s struggled with his sexuality. “He talks about the difficulty in his life, and concerns as to his relationship with his own child. “He talks about the breakdown of his relationship with his mother and there’s an element of a sense of betrayal he had not been informed about his previous convictions. He described how the girl had suffered anxiety, rarely left the house and was “a little scared of the world”.

The judge said he had read moving personal statements and added: “You were, as you admitted yourself, an alcoholic at that time. “As far as the boy was concerned you developed a relationship with him and he looked up to you as a role model. “He was very young and didn’t know it was wrong at the time. He subsequently played out these kind of sexual activities with people at school and suffered abuse as a result of that

The abuse in the girl’s case only stopped when she was 11. By this time she had had sex education at school, realised it was wrong, and physically resisted any more attempts by you to perpetrate the abuse.

It’s an aggravating matter you took steps to ensure she would not report the abuse. You said her mother wouldn’t believe her. All in all this is a terrible catalogue of sexual abuse over some years. It’s impossible to work out to what extent damage has been done to them long term.”

VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Clark County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man who’s accused of raping his own child, according to The Columbian.
Court documents say Daniel Lee Fowler is facing four counts of first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree sodomy.

According to the documents, the incidents occurred on or between Sept. 1, 2016 and Sept. 30, 2016 in Columbia County Oregon.
The Columbian reported Clark County Deputies shot Fowler with less-lethal ammunition and arrested him at a Vancouver residence.
The homeowner at the residence was also arrested for rendering criminal assistance, the sheriff’s office told The Columbian.
