An Orlando man was accused of sexually assaulting a 2-year-old child in a Chick-fil-A bathroom after a customer noticed a reflection of the attack, police said.
David Gray, 35, was taken into custody Friday morning near the restaurant, 4752 S. Kirkman Road, just south of Conroy Road.
The witness told police he thought something was wrong when he caught a glimpse of the child’s reflection with Gray in a bathroom stall. The witness said he flushed the urinal and saw Gray panic when he realized someone else was in the bathroom with him, records show.
Gray, who was in a motorized wheelchair, rushed to get dressed, pulled out a stun gun, and tried to keep the witness from leaving the bathroom, the witness told police.
“I’ll [expletive] kill you,” Gray said, according to police.
Gray left the bathroom with the child, running over the witness’ foot with his wheelchair on the way, police said.
“Call the police, a child is being abused in the bathroom,” the witness yelled, according to police.
A restaurant employee told police Gray has been to the restaurant with young children before, and that he has taken the same child into the bathroom a few other times, police said.
It’s not clear how Gray knew the 2-year-old. Officers interviewed a woman, whose name they did not release, who said that Gray works for her as a daycare provider and that he left the home that morning with two people whose names and ages were not released.
Officers brought Gray to the Orlando Police Department headquarters, where after an interview he said that he would man up and tell the truth.
“What else am I going to do, might as well get it over,” Gray said, according to records.
Gray faces charges of sexual battery of a child younger than 12, lewd or lascivious battery and molestation, child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He is being held in the Orange County Jail without bond.
