Hawkins man accused of repeated child rapes over four-year period JEFF BOBO OCT 12, 2017 timesnews.net
LANCASTER — A 33-year-old Brooklyn man is accused of sexually assaulting a young girl at a home in Lancaster between 2006 and 2012, police say.
Vincent Ammarito is charged with committing various sexual acts with the girl, who was four years old when the abuse began.
The girl, now 14, reported the abuse to police in February.
Police say the incidents occurred at a home on the 500 block of Poplar Street.
Ammarito is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, and indecent assault. All are felony charges.
He is also charged with misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors and indecent exposure, police say.
Ammarito was charged on September 6 and arraigned on October 2 before District Judge Adam Witkonis. He was committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $300,000 bail.
A victim of violent and sexual abuse as a child has spoken out after her tormentor received a jail sentence for his sick crimes.
The Falkirk woman believes the man who abused her and her sister at two addresses in Langlees over a period of 20 years from 1976 until it 1996 got off lightly at court.
Crawford Buchanan, of Abbotsford Street, Bainsford was found guilty of sickening abuse against the two women, which started when they were just seven and eight years old.
On various occasions between November 27, 1976 and November 26, 1985 Crawford assaulted one of his victims and ordered her to lower her clothing, repeatedly strike her with a belt and slipper and repeatedly slap her on the head.
Between 1981 and 1985 he subjected the same child to fondled her intimately and forced her to perform sex acts on him. Between July 1979 and July 1996, Crawford forced his other victim, now aged 46, to strip off and struck her with a belt, got into her bed and try to kiss her, repeatedly fondled her intimately and rub himself against her.
Crawford also assaulted a boy over a 15-year period starting in 1972 by making him strip and striking him with a belt and slipper.
At Falkirk Sheriff Court on September 22 he was sentenced to 20 months and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years.
One of the sisters, now aged 46, said: “I don’t think the sentence was sufficient, not for all those years of abuse. He should have got more but these cases can be hard to prove, however, it does mean he’ll probably be walking the streets again in ten months.
“My sister did speak out about it back then, but it was brushed under the carpet so I was then scared to open my mouth. I was 24 when the abuse stopped.
“It’s weird to say but I did have a close relationship with him and wanted things to appear normal for my children, but after there was a death in the family it all became too much to keep quiet about it.”
A man accused of repeatedly raping a young child has admitted to the crimes.
David Kausky, 34, was in court for a hearing to suppress evidence in a trial scheduled to start next week.
That’s when he said he did not want to go to trial.
“When we got here today Mr. Kausky's attorney (Aaron Miller) pulled me aside and advised me he was going to enter a plea of guilty," Jefferson County Assistant Prosecutor Jeff Bruzzese said.
And he did. He pled guilty to four counts of rape, one charge for each time the young victim in this case was assaulted. Police say the crimes were committed against a then-8-year-old girl.
Before court was in session, Kausky was visibly frustrated. He said the entire situation was ridiculous and that authorities are corrupt and would try to convict him on hearsay. The prosecution said its case would have held up for a jury if it went to trial. Testimony would have included statements from the victim and statements from witnesses who saw the victim with Kausky.
"In addition to that, there would have been Kausky's own statement where he does try to minimize his behavior, but certainly confesses to enough,” Bruzzese said. “And in addition to that, there would have been testimony from (forensics experts). When this little girl had a rape kit done, they found the defendant's DNA all over her."
U.S. Marshals arrested Kausky in February after he spent nearly 6 months on the run, all the while carrying a history of sex crimes. He has prior convictions for sexual contact with a minor.
"(But) here we have a guy who is a repeat offender. Certainly it's important to get him in prison for life," Bruzzese said.
HELENA – A Helena suspect is charged with 8 felonies, involving sexual abuse of juvenile females.
Kody Kyle Fettig was arrested. His charges include two counts of sexual abuse of children and four counts of rape over several years.
Charging documents alleged the 31-year-old Fettig began abusing one victim when she was 7 years old.
Prosecutors say Fettig paid one of the victims $25 each time he videotaped the two involved in sex acts. He’s also accused of photographing his victims while they were nude.
One of the victims told prosecutors on several occasions Fettig abused two females at the same time.
One victim told investigators Fettig offered to let her wear a mask to cover her eyes in order to make her more comfortable during the acts of abuse.
Two of the victims told investigators Fettig would shave their legs for them.
If convicted on all counts, Fettig could face a maximum prison term of 800 years.
His bond has been set at $250,000.00. He’ll be arraigned on Nov. 1.
Ben Chivers, 20, and Brett Ashley McLaughlan, 25, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court charged with child sexual offences in 2015, which took place in Rotherham. Chivers, of Rawmarsh in Rotherham, pleaded guilty to raping a 12-year-old, three counts of sexual activity with a 13-year-old and three counts of sexual activity with a 14-year-old in 2015.
McLaughlan, also of Rawmarsh, was charged with the sexual assault of a 14-year-old and the rape of a 12-year-old. He was found guilty of rape and not guilty of sexual assault. Both men have been remanded into custody and will be sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court in the next two months, after reports have been compiled and reviewed by the court.
During the trial the court heard how in April 2015, Chivers and McLaughlan targeted their victims, all girls under the age of 15, who cannot be named for legal reasons. Chivers befriended them online and arranged to meet them, before committing sexual offences against the girls.
Acting Detective Sergeant Gareth Gent said. “These two men, who were both adults at the time of their offending, knew that the girls were underage, because each victim made this clear either via social media messaging or in person.
“They groomed their victims with claims of affection and by giving them attention. “They exploited these children, subjecting them to sexual abuse and in some cases raped them, all the while tightening their grip over the victims’ thoughts and feelings.
The court heard that, when the abuse was eventually disclosed to police and investigated, such was the hold these men had over their victims, the girls still believed that they had been in a relationship with the two predators.
I commend the girls’ strength and courage, for coming forward and helping us with our inquiries," Acting DS Gent said. "After a lengthy multi-agency investigation with significant input from Barnardos and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, it is our hope that with these convictions, the victims are able to begin their path towards recovery and confine this horrific abuse to the past.”
A child molester serving decades in state prison for multiple sex assaults involving teenage boys faces new child rape charges, Bethlehem police say.
Michael Davis, 43, is serving 25 to 50years in prison for the assaults that spanned several years and involved plying two boys with alcohol or marijuana on at least 25 occasions beginning in 2007.
In August, police say, a man told Bethlehem police he also had been sexually assaulted by Davis when he was 14. Police say the assaults happened in June 2007, according to Northampton County Court records.
In the most recent case, investigators say on the boy’s 14th birthday, Davis gave him alcohol and sexually assaulted him. Police say the sexual assault was witnessed by a family member of Davis, who confirmed the assault.
Davis is charged with raping a substantially impaired person, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of someone under age 16, endangering the welfare of a child, indecent assault and corruption of minors. Police say Davis will be arraigned via video at a later date.
In the 2007 cases, police say Davis acted as a mentor to two boys, sexually assaulting them in a Bethlehem home and while on vacation in South Carolina.
