CHILD RAPISTS 196

ROLLA, Mo.-- A Rolla man has been sentenced to three consecutive life sentences and 22 years for the sexual abuse of a child.
49-year-old Lawrence Mullen was found guilty of two counts of statutory sodomy, sexual exploitation of a minor, possession of child pornography, and use of a child in a sexual performance. Mullen was found guilty in July 2017.
Phelps County Prosecuting Attorney, Brendon Fox said, "This was one of the most horrible cases I have ever had to prosecute. Mr. Mullen subjected his five-year-old victim to horrible sexual abuse and photographed himself doing it. Additionally, he had many images of child pornography on his computer.

I’m thankful for the victim’s mother for coming forward and making sure he couldn’t have any more victims. I’m thankful for the investigation by the Det. Sgt. Hank Harper and the others at RPD. I’m thankful for the excellent forensic computer work performed by Inv. Wayne Becker. I’m thankful for the work by Moriah Joplin and everyone else at all Child Advocacy Centers statewide. And I am thankful for the assistance at trial by Assistant Prosecutor Kara Breshears and my Legal Assistant Linda Morris. This was a big win for the good guys and we can all rest a little easier knowing Lawrence Mullen can never hurt another child.”
Police say the investigation started May 4, 2016, when they got a report of child molestation at a house on E. 11th Street while she was visiting there.
A search warrant was served on the house June 14.  Police say they seized several electronic devices that had digital images, including evidence of the molestation.
A Tennessee man is jailed on accusations of sexually abusing an Alabama child from the time she was an infant through her early teenage years.

Billy Wayne Holder, formerly of Florence, is indicted on one count of first-degree rape, one count of sexual torture and two counts of sexual abuse, court documents show. The 46-year-old who lives in Pulaski, Tennessee is held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center with bail set at $126,000.
The investigation began in February 2016 when the victim, a teenager, told a friend she had been sexually abused by Holder for years, said Sgt. Matt Horton, a Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office investigator. To protect the identity of the victim, the relationship between Holder and the young girl is being withheld. Horton said after the victim told a friend, the Department of Human Resources was notified about the allegations.
"From there, we were notified," the investigator said. "The victim said the abuse had been going on for as long as she could remember. We're talking like 12-13 years."
Holder's defense attorney Charlie Bottoms was not immediately available for comment.
If convicted, Holder faces up to life in prison and would be required to register as a sex offender. A grand jury issued the indictments because it determined prosecutors have enough evidence to send the case to trial. Holder was arrested this past weekend. If Holder is released on bail before trial, he is prohibited from having any contact with the victim, according to court documents.

A Maryville man is being held at the Blount County jail on bonds totaling $1 million following his arrest on child rape charges.
Franklin Monroe McMillan, 52, Parkview Court, was arrested by Blount County Sheriff's Office deputies  on two counts of child rape. He is being held on bonds totaling $1 million pending a 9 a.m. Friday hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.
The charges stem from a Sept. 17 incident between McMillan and a young female relative under the age of 13, the Sheriff's Office said.
A police investigation revealed McMillan touched the girl inappropriately, the Sheriff's Office said. The contact occurred when McMillan took the girl for a ride in his vehicle, police said.
The Sheriff's Office said McMillan's bond was set so high because he has a prior charge in Knox County of fleeing to avoid prosecution, as well as a violent criminal history in Knox County.

A man accused of raping two young female relatives tried to overdose on painkillers because he would “rather die than go to jail,” the victims’ mother told deputies in Texas.
Steven Lyn Deaton, 39, of San Antonio, remains in custody in the Bexar County Jail after being charged with continuous sexual abuse of a young child, a first-degree felony, the San Antonio Express-News reported.
One of the victims called Bexar County deputies on Sept. 18 to report a suicide attempt. The girl, a 15-year-old sophomore in high school, and her mom told deputies that Deaton tried to kill himself because he feared doing time for sexually assaulting the teen since she was in first grade.
The officers found Deaton highly intoxicated and took him to a hospital on an emergency detention hold after he was unable to respond to questions about the allegations.
Deaton had indicated before the apparent suicide attempt that he would “rather die than go to jail,” the mother told deputies. He then ingested an unknown amount of a powerful painkiller called Tramadol, according to an affidavit obtained by the newspaper.
The victim’s sister also told deputies that Deaton had sexually abused her as well, claiming he told each of them that they would allow him to perform sex acts on them “if she loved him,” according to the affidavit.
Deaton was arrested following his release from the hospital. He’s currently facing one count of continuous sexual abuse of a young child, according to Bexar County Central Magistrate records, although he may face additional charges connected to the alleged abuse of the second female relative.
