A Billings man has been charged with raping and sexually assaulting four children ranging from 8 to 11 years old, according to charges.
Dennis Martin Friedt, 61, appeared in Yellowstone County Justice Court on one count of sexual intercourse without consent and three counts of sexual assault, all felonies. He was arrested on a $300,000 bond.
Four children told a youth counselor about instances in which Friedt had touched them inappropriately, charging documents state. The victims’ ages are 11, 9, 9 and 8.
One of the 9-year-olds described how Friedt raped her with his penis and did not stop when she told him to. She said it happened every time she stayed at his house.
Friedt bought the kids teddy bears, ice cream and gum and touched their genitals on multiple occasions, the children told investigators.
The children told investigators they did not tell because they were scared. One said Friedt told her the assaults were their “little secret.” One of the children eventually told because she was afraid Friedt would hurt her younger sisters, who are 3 and 4 years old.
Friedt wrote in a letter to his probation officer that, “The sad part is I did touch (the children) wrong it hurts so bad.”
But in a subsequent letter to the county attorney’s office, Friedt denied the allegations, saying the only time he’d touched the children was when the kids’ parents were “too busy fighting to pay attention to the children” and that he’d shown the kids how to use medicine for yeast infections.
“Quit leading the children into answers that CPS can make me out to be a pervert or child molester this is wrong and bullshit.”
Friedt had been serving probation for a fourth or subsequent drunken driving offense.

A ‘monster’ who raped a woman and took a schoolgirl to a secluded spot before sexually assaulting her has been jailed.
Former pub landlord Gerald Smith continues to deny any wrongdoing, after being convicted by juries following two trials at Manchester Crown Court.
Now Smith, 61, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
The court heard of the profound impact his offending has had on his two female victims.
Smith was found guilty of indecent assault by a jury last year.
Prosecuting, Alexander Langhorn told how Smith had picked up the teenage girl, and she accepted the offer of a lift in his car as she knew him.
But instead of stopping at her home, Smith drove to a secluded spot in an industrial estate and indecently assaulted the girl.

Smith ordered her not to tell anyone. She agreed and did not report him.
The historic offences came to court after the victim made a statement to officers.
In a victim impact statement read out in court, the now adult victim described Smith as a ‘disgusting man’ and stated: ‘I want others to know what he has done’.
The victim said she now didn’t feel safe in the car with a man, and required a female driving instructor to help pass her test.
She also said she changed from being a confident person to becoming ‘withdrawn, angry and paranoid’.
Smith, of New Moss Road, Cadishead, also stood trial and was convicted of rape and assault against a woman.
The court heard that Smith raped the woman after she refused to have sex with him.
The victim was crying throughout and he had his hands on her throat, Mr Langhorn said.

In another incident, Smith threw a number of objects at her including a glass bottle, leaving the victim unconscious.
The victim in the case stated that she felt ‘totally dead inside’, and described Smith as a ‘monster’.
She says her life will ‘never be normal’ following Smith’s behaviour.
Recorder Neville Biddle sentenced Smith, to eight years in prison for rape and two years in prison for indecent assault, which will run consecutively to make a total of 10 years.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A man is accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl five months after he was released from an Ohio prison on a child pornography conviction.
Christopher Forrest, 34, of Cleveland, is charged with rape and is not in police custody. A warrant was issued Friday for his arrest.
Forrest raped a 10-year-old girl on Aug. 12 at an apartment on West 75th Street, according to court records. Forrest walked into the girl's bedroom naked and raped her twice, according to court records.
The girl reported the attack Sept. 5 at her elementary school, according to police reports.
Forrest was released from prison March 20 after serving a seven-month sentence for sending explicit text messages and a pornographic video to a 13-year-old girl.
Forrest sent the Cleveland girl several messages from May 1 through June 7, 2016, according to court records.
He sent the girl a video of two adults having sex, according to investigators. Forrest sent her follow-up texts saying he wanted to meet up with her and "lay with her until he goes to work." He noted in his texts that the wanted to perform the same sex acts from the video with the girl, according to court records.
Forrest has been convicted of drug trafficking or possession seven times and carrying a concealed weapon once.
He's twice been convicted of attempted felonious assault. In 2007, he attacked a man at Nyuk Nyuk's bar on Broadview Road. The man he attacked suffered some hearing loss in one ear. He was sentenced to one year in prison in that case.
He was sentenced to 18 months in prison in 2009 for threatening to shoot people and hiding his gun when police came to arrest him.

A Cushing man was sentenced to serve at least 10 years in prison after he pled guilty to an amended charge of child sexual abuse that began when his victim was 4.
Paul Douglas Massey46, was arrested in August 2016 and originally charged with nine felony counts – forcible oral sodomy, first-degree rape, rape by instrumentation, two counts of second-degree rape and four counts of lewd molestation.
But a plea agreement led to Massey's guilty plea and a sentence that includes 30 years in the custody of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, 20 years of which will be suspended upon Massey's good behavior. Massey will also have to pay court costs, costs of incarceration and the district attorney's prosecution fees.

Massey will have to register as a sex offender and be supervised by the DOC's probation and parole division for three years of post-confinement supervision. He was given credit for time served – Massey spent almost three months in Payne County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
An affidavit filed in the case shows the victim, who was 19 when she revealed the sexual abuse to Cushing police, said Massey sexually assaulted her when she was as young as 4, and continued to as she grew up in Cushing. The assaults and forced sexual acts occurred at several addresses in and outside Cushing city limits.
The officer alleged in the affidavit that after reviewing the victim's accounts to both her and a sexual assault nurse examiner; the victim's mother's interview regarding the alleged timeline; and information regarding various residences where the crimes were allegedly committed, these all lined up as consistent regarding the victim's allegations against Massey.

A Logan man is being held in the Cache County Jail, without bail, after he was charged with the sexual abuse of a child reportedly dating back to the 1990s and continuing for more than 10 years.
Troy Burdette Richman, 51, told Judge Kevin Allen that he has not been able to procure an attorney in the three weeks since his arrest, so Bryan Galloway was appointed to represent him.
According to Cache County prosecutor Jake Gordon, Richman was charged with six counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony, along with six counts of forcible sexual abuse, one count of attempted rape, and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, all second-degree offenses.
COLUMBIANA – A 47-year-old Birmingham man who previously registered as a sex offender will spend the next few years in prison after he pleaded guilty recently to the attempted sexual abuse of a child younger than 12.

Jonathan Joseph Risko III, who lists an address in Lake Heather Reserve in Birmingham, pleaded guilty to one count of attempted sexual abuse of a child younger than 12 during a late-August hearing in front of Shelby County Circuit Court Judge Bill Bostick.
Through a plea agreement with prosecutors, Risko’s original charge of sexual abuse of a child younger than 12 was reduced to attempted sexual abuse of a child. Through the plea agreement, one of the two failure to register as a sex offender charges against Risko was also dropped.
Risko received 1,074 days of jail credit for time served in the Shelby County Jail between his 2014 arrest and his sentencing date.
Bostick originally sentenced Risko to 20 years in prison, but split the sentence to five years in prison followed by two years of supervised probation. Risko also must avoid initiating contact with the victim in the case.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office arrested Risko on Sept. 22, 2014, and charged him with the sex abuse of a child and failure to register as a sex offender crimes. The Alabaster Police Department assisted in the case, according to court documents.
According to his arrest warrant, Risko subjected a child younger than 12 to sexual contact in 2014.
Risko was residing with the victim when the offense occurred, which was a violation of the sex offender status placed on him after he was convicted in 1997 in Florida of assault and sexual battery of a child.
Risko also had been convicted of failure to register as a sex offender in Bibb County in 2006.

A Vinemont man has been arrested and charged with first-degree sexual abuse.
According to the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), investigators arrested  and  charged John Paul Adkins, 28, following an investigation in which it was discovered that Adkins had sexually molested a minor.
The CCSO said the victim is known to the suspect, and that the victim came forward to CCSO investigators after an interview at the Child Advocacy Center (CAC).
“I would like to thank the workers at the Child Advocacy Center for their commitment to keep children safe and to get children out of bad environments," said Sheriff Matt Gentry. “I would also like to thank our investigators who worked on this case.”
Adkins has already made bond.

A "predatory" man who groomed a 14-year-old schoolgirl so he could sexually abuse her has been jailed.
Richard Slater, 46, of Unwin Road, Isleworth, targeted his victim and bought the underage girl gifts and drugs.
Slater was aware of the girl's age and convinced the "impressionable" girl he was in love her.
In September 2016 their relationship became sexual and on September 29 the girl was reported missing - she was found some time later by officers in Slater's bedroom, Metropolitan Police said.
He was arrested but granted police bail and told not to contact the victim, however on October 23 she was reported missing again and found by officers outside Slater's house.
On November 10 the victim was found hiding in an alleyway behind Slater's house.
Detectives were determined to prevent Slater from meeting the girl again and obtained an Interim Sexual Risk Order against Slater on November 24.
However in January 2017 he was caught meeting up with the victim on Hounslow Heath and Slater was arrested and charged with child abduction, breach of a sexual risk order and possession of cannabis.

Slater was further charged on June 28 with engaging in sexual activity with a child, grooming and a further count of breaching a sexual risk order.
He pleaded guilty to all six offences and was sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on Friday (September 15) to seven years and eight months in jail.
He will be placed on the Sex Offenders' Register indefinitely and has a sexual harm prevention order against him.

Detective Constable Thomas Ward of the Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command said Slater developed a relationship with an impressionable, vulnerable child and pursued her with the intent of a predatory sex offender.
"It was only at court that Slater finally accepted responsibility for his actions, having strongly denied the facts from the point of his arrest," he said.
"I would like to praise the strength of the family who have supported this investigation throughout.
" I can only hope they can now move forward as a result of Slater's conviction.
"Slater is a serious risk to young females and it cannot be discounted that he may have abused other young girls.
"Anyone who believes they have been a victim of Slater's is urged to contact police via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
NEW BRUNSWICK -- A 36-year-old man has been sentenced to five years in prison for endangering the welfare of a deaf and mute teenage girl who accused him of sexual abuse.
Hitler Santana, also known as Luis Camacho, was sentenced earlier this month by Middlesex County Superior Court Judge Dennis Nieves on a second-degree charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
"You committed this crime against someone who was unable to speak out as anybody else could," Nieves said.
Santana, of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, will be eligible for parole after about a year, the judge said.
The defendant, who has maintained his innocence, was accused by the teenage girl of touching her on numerous occasions over a five-year period. The case hinged on the girl's testimony in April.
The defendant waived his right to a jury trial in May and requested a bench trial, where the judge decided the verdict.
Nieves found Santana guilty of the endangerment charge and dismissed three other sexual assault charges.
Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Carver said while the judge did not convict Santana of the other charges, he found that Santana committed the sexual acts as described by the victim.
"I will remember her because of her innate strength and her determination to speak the truth, to finally say what happened to her," Carver told the judge.
Santana's defense attorney, Michael Allongo, said his client has maintained that the events described by the teenager never happened. He said he plans to appeal.
"From day one, this is somebody who has said, 'I'm not interested in any plea offer. ... I can't swear I did something I didn't do,'" Allongo said of Santana.
Speaking through a Spanish interpreter before he was sentenced, Santana said he has a lot of respect for the judge and asked Nieves to show compassion when deciding the sentence.
Santana, who is not an American citizen, was charged with aggravated sexual assault and burglary in 2005 in Florida, the judge said. A jury later found him not guilty. He has no previous convictions and has led a law-abiding life, his defense team argued.
