A registered "sexually violent" offender convicted of sexually abusing a teenager in Dutchess County has reported a move in Poughkeepsie.
The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert to Dutchess residents regarding the residency of 60-year-old Jeffrey Wilcox, who has moved to an apartment on the 500 block of Main Street in Poughkeepsie.
The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Wilcox as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a sexually violent offender.
According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Wilcox sexually abused a 14-year-old child in 2000 and was arrested by the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office. He was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse the following year and sentenced to a term of between one day and two years in state prison. Officials noted that pornography was involved in the offense. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Poughkeepsie City Police Department.

A Tennessee man pleaded no contest to sexually assaulting his niece over a two-year span, a conviction that likely will lead to a life sentence in prison.

Zebulin Richard Barron, 41, made the plea in Shawnee County District Court to one charge of aggravated indecent liberties with a child younger than 14 by a person older than 18.
In Kansas, that charge is an off-grid offense, meaning it is the among the small number of crimes, including first-degree murder, which carry life terms in which the defendant must serve at least 20 or 25 years before the defendant can be considered for release from prison.
The victim was 6 years old when the sexual assaults started and 8 when they ended two years later. The assaults spanned Dec. 1, 2012, to Dec. 31, 2014, when the child was visiting relatives in the Auburn area for a week during the Christmas seasons.
On March 3, 2015, the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call from the girl’s father, who said his daughter was being sexually abused by her uncle, Charles Kitt told the judge during the factual basis for Barron’s no contest plea. Kitt is a prosecutor and chief of staff for the district attorney’s office.
The girl told investigators the defendant had sexually abused her while she visited the Kansas part of the family, Kitt said.
Among the abuse, the child was shown pornography, then oral sex was performed, Kitt said. When the child visited the Kansas home, she and Barron would watch TV in a particular room with a blanket over them, he said.
As part of a plea agreement, one charge each of aggravated criminal sodomy and lewd and lascivious behavior, both of which are felonies, were dismissed against Barron.
The district attorney’s office filed charges in district court against Barron on Dec. 11, 2015, and he was arrested nine days later at his home in La Vergne, a suburb of Nashville, Tenn.
When officers arrived at the home, his mother told them he may have guns, and as a result, SWAT teams were called in, streets were blocked, and four nearby schools were locked down, according to news media reports.
A police canine unit found Barron in a closet, he struggled briefly with police, then he was arrested. Barron wasn’t armed.
In September 2016, two female witnesses testified in Shawnee County they had been sexually assaulted by Barron in separate events. A 7-year-old girl took the witness stand to testify that Barron sexually assaulted her during a Sunday church gathering at Barron’s Tennessee home.
Earlier, a woman in her late 20s testified she was 12 years old when Barron, who was dating the child’s older sister, awoke her to press his penis against her hand and groped her.
Kansas law says that testimony about evidence of the defendant’s commission of another act or offense of sexual misconduct is admissible and can be considered for its bearing on any matter when it is relevant and probative, the prosecution motion in September said.

GRAVES COUNTY, KY - A Graves County man is behind bars, accused of raping and sodomizing a child.
Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon says a deputy received a complaint of a juvenile being sexually abused by a caregiver. The deputy, assisted by a worker from the Department of Community Based Services, interviewed the juvenile.
According to police, the juvenile told of two separate incidents that had taken place in the past week. The man accused of committing the acts, David Edgin, was interviewed but denied any wrongdoing.
On Tuesday, the juvenile was taken to the Purchase Area Sexual Assault Center in Paducah and a forensic interview was conducted. After the interview, a Graves County sheriff's deputy came back to Graves County and arrested Edgin.
Edgin was charged with one count of 1st degree rape, one count of 1st degree sodomy, and one count of 1st degree sexual abuse. He was lodged in the Graves County Jail.

MACON COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - The Macon County Sheriff's Office say an investigation into a child receiving inappropriate images through Snapchat has resulted in the arrest of a man on multiple charges.
On August 21, deputies say they received a report of explicit images being sent through Snapchat to a 10-year-old girl.  According to sworn statements, the person who reported this incident identified the individual responsible for sending the image as Brian Thompson, 48.
Deputies say officers also spoke with one of the victim's friends, who reported that she saw Thompson in her room late at night, and that she thought that Thompson had entered her room through her bedroom window.  Deputies then spoke with the friend's mother, who told police that Thompson entered the home without permission, and did not wish to pursue charges.
Macon County Sheriff's Deputies say they took Thompson into custody for questioning, and during a Mirandized interview with investigators, deputies say Thompson admitted that the explicit pictures came from his phone, but that he did not send them to the victim.  Deputies also say Thompson admitted to other inappropriate contact with juveniles while talking to investigators, and was taken into custody.
Thompson is facing preliminary charges of criminal sexual abuse, grooming, and disseminating material harmful to juveniles, and is being held in Macon County Jail on $40,000 bond.

James Cottle, 77, of Lewisville was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a young child.

Cottle's jury trial started in Judge Brody Shanklin's 211th Judicial District Court, according to First Assistant District Attorney Jamie Beck. On Wednesday, after the victim and several witnesses testified, he decided to change his plea to guilty, she said. The case went to the judge for sentencing later that afternoon.

The incident started in 2009, when Cottle's daughter was 6 years old. Beck said Cottle lived alone at his home in the 100 block of High School Drive in Lewisville, and his daughter would visit him on weekends and one week in the summer.

He sexually abused her for years until she told authorities at the age of 13, Beck said. The girl was interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center for Denton County in Lewisville, and Lewisville police eventually arrested Cottle.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — When a 25-year-old man didn't tell his wife he loved her before she left for work, his wife became suspicious.

Police say she went back to her Springfield, Mo.., residence and opened the front door to see her husband, Ryan Lee Christoph, having oral sex performed on him by an underage relative.

The incident is described in a probable cause statement used to charge Christoph with five counts of statutory sodomy and one count of statutory rape.

The abuse began around Christmas 2016 when the girl was 13.

According to the statement, the abuse continued until Christoph's wife walked in on him this month.

The statement said police found sexual messages on Facebook between the girl and Christoph.

The girl told investigators that Ryan engaged in several different sexual acts with her on several different occasions at a residence and in a parked car, the statement said.

Some of the acts involved choking her and binding her wrists, the statement said.

Ryan told police he had a relationship with the girl and that he knew it was wrong to have a sexual relationship with someone who is both a relative and underage.

Online court records show Christoph, who is from Nixa, is currently being held in the Greene County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
